Spokane and Spokane County
Spokane is the biggest city in eastern Washington. The older neighborhoods are full of mature ponderosa pines and big shade trees, many of them growing tight against houses, garages and fences.
North of the city, out toward Mead, Colbert, Deer Park and Nine Mile Falls, city lots give way to timbered acreage. That edge is wildfire country: Spokane County lost homes in the 1991 Firestorm and again in the 2023 Oregon Road and Gray fires.
Walsar serves Spokane from its base in Priest River, Idaho, down US 2 through Newport.
